On September 28, Israeli strikes killed at least two Palestinians and wounded several others in separate attacks in Gaza Strip. One strike hit a rooftop in Gaza City, killing a woman and wounding her husband and others, while another struck a refugee camp in central Gaza's Nuseirat area, also resulting in fatalities. The Israeli military confirmed one of the strikes but did not comment on the other incident. Palestinian authorities report that over 73,000 people have been killed since Israel launched its assault on Gaza following Hamas-led fighters killing about 1,200 people in southern Israel last October. A US-brokered ceasefire agreed upon last year aimed at reconstruction remains largely unimplemented due to disagreements over disarmament and troop withdrawal terms; since the ceasefire, at least 1,400 Palestinians, mostly civilians, have been killed in Gaza.
