A 24-year-old man named Pepijn van der Stap was arrested in Amsterdam as part of an investigation into the hacking group ShinyHunters. Dutch media reported on September 29 that he is also under suspicion for allegedly ordering two murders abroad, based on information found on his laptop. Van der Stap worked at the cybersecurity firm Neo Security before his arrest. The allegations against him are separate from the ShinyHunters investigation, which has raised concern over large-scale data breaches and extortion activities. Recently, ShinyHunters claimed to have stolen terabytes of sensitive personnel data from US FBI servers, intensifying worries about cyber security threats.
