At around 12:40 PM on an unspecified date, armed police responded to a report of a machete attack near Boscombe Chine Gardens in Bournemouth, Dorset. A man allegedly used a long-bladed weapon to strike another man over the head. The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident occurred at Chine Hotel, one of three hotels in Bournemouth housing asylum seekers under contract with the Home Office. Following an investigation, police made an arrest on suspicion of attempted grievous bodily harm and escorted a suspect from the hotel to a waiting police van.
Since the hotel began accommodating asylum seekers, local residents have reported an increase in crime, including assaults, drug use, and antisocial behavior in the area. Police stated that there would be an increased presence as they investigate the full circumstances of the attack.
