In September, at least 100 secondary home transactions in Hong Kong resulted in financial losses despite overall property prices showing slight improvement. These loss-making sales were reported across all areas including Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories, affecting both luxury and affordable homes. Losses ranged from over 10% to as high as 30% of the original purchase price. Despite these losses, real estate agents predicted that Hong Kong’s property market would avoid a significant downturn due to the US Federal Reserve's interest rate hikes, with prices potentially ending the year 15% higher than in the previous one. However, this positive trend was not seen in the secondary home market where actual sales losses continued.
