On Tuesday, Israeli strikes killed at least two Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, according to local health officials. One person was killed near Al Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, while another died from a separate strike nearby. The Israeli military stated that these attacks targeted militants involved with Hamas. These strikes occurred just one day before the third anniversary of the Hamas-led attack on southern Israel which resulted in significant loss of life and hostage-taking incidents, claiming around 1,200 lives and capturing 251 hostages.
In response to ongoing tensions, Palestinian authorities assert that over 74,000 people have been killed since Israel launched its assault on Gaza following the October 7 attacks. Meanwhile, Israel accuses Hamas of violating a ceasefire by rearming and launching attacks, prompting increased Israeli military action in recent weeks. Hamas denies these accusations and claims Israel is undermining an existing peace agreement.
Efforts to resolve the conflict through last year's US-brokered ceasefire, which calls for eventual reconstruction of Gaza and terms aimed at disarming Hamas and withdrawing Israeli troops, have seen little progress towards implementation.
