On October 6, a 15-year-old girl attacked students at Şeyh Şamil Imam Hatip Secondary School in Basaksehir, Istanbul, around 8:30 am local time. The attacker, who was wearing a school uniform to disguise herself, stabbed eight girls indiscriminately with a knife before being detained by police. Health Minister Kemal Memişoğlu reported that one student died later from the injuries sustained during the attack and seven others were hospitalized; among them, one person was in critical condition, two had moderate-to-serious injuries, while five had minor injuries likely to be discharged soon. Education Minister Yusuf Tekin confirmed classes at the school would be suspended for Tuesday and Wednesday following this incident.
