Leung Ho-fung, a 29-year-old former nursing student at Hong Kong Sanatorium and Hospital in Happy Valley, was sentenced to two years and four months in prison by Hong Kong’s District Court for stealing from patients and colleagues. On September 19 to October 23, 2024, Leung stole an iPhone, HK$6,500 (US$828) in cash, and nine credit cards from four patients and four colleagues. Additionally, he used some of the stolen credit cards to make purchases totaling HK$52,875 at an Apple store on three separate occasions. The total losses amounted to at least HK$59,000 (US$7,517). This case highlights significant breaches of patient and staff trust in a healthcare setting.
