Curtis Flowers, a Black man wrongfully convicted six times for the 1996 murders of four people in a furniture store in Winona, Mississippi, died at age 56 on Wednesday. His family confirmed his death, and no cause was specified by attorney Rob McDuff, who was part of Flowers' legal team. Prosecutors initially described him as seeking revenge against the store’s owner after being fired and having wages withheld for damaged merchandise; nearly $300 was also missing post-killings. The U.S. Supreme Court overturned his conviction and death sentence in 2019, highlighting racial bias in jury selection.
