A fast-moving wildfire, named The Danny Fire, erupted near the I-5 Freeway in Southern California on Thursday afternoon. By about 4:30 p.m., it had grown to an estimated 5 to 10 acres and spread through light to medium vegetation at a rapid pace. The fire prompted evacuation warnings for specific zones around Gorman, north of Smokey Bear Road. Both directions of the major highway were closed through the Grapevine due to the proximity of the flames to this critical travel corridor connecting Southern and Northern California. Firefighters warned of potential threats to nearby structures within 15 to 20 minutes of the initial report at around 4:15 p.m., with a helicopter reporting a moderate rate of spread as crews responded.
