On Thursday, Sindh Governor Nehal Hashmi distributed cheques of Rs26 million each to the families of three Pakistanis killed by Somali pirates. The deceased were Mahmood Ahmed Ansari, Syed Kashif Umar, and Rafiullah Khan, who were kidnapped while working on the hijacked oil tanker MT Honour 25. According to a statement from the Governor House, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered this financial assistance as part of his support for the affected families. The governor also presented cheques totaling Rs12.5 million and additional funds for purchasing land plots for each family's future housing needs. This gesture follows PM Shehbaz's recent announcement to provide free housing and education for the children of those who lost their lives in pirate attacks, reflecting the government’s commitment to assisting victims' families during challenging times.
