During Monday night's game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Washington Commanders, wide receiver Mike Evans exited due to a non-contact injury. After catching a 16-yard pass from quarterback Brock Purdy in the first half, Evans was seen limping off the field with an apparent Achilles tendon issue. The team confirmed he would not return for the rest of the game.
Evans, who had three receptions for 94 yards before leaving, had been dealing with rib and Achilles injuries throughout the week, missing all practices leading up to the game. With multiple other receivers already sidelined due to injuries, Evans' absence further depleted San Francisco's receiving corps.
While coach Kyle Shanahan downplayed concerns about a long-term injury, stating that Evans' Achilles tendon was "intact," it remains unclear how much time Evans will miss. NBC Sports reported that he could be out for next week’s game in Atlanta, though Shanahan expressed hope that Evans would still play.
