Laiba Ijaz, a 20-year-old student at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), allegedly died by suicide after being defrauded of Rs5 million for fake travel documents intended to move her to the United States. The prime suspect in the case was killed when his accomplices opened fire on police while they were transferring him to track down another suspect. This incident occurred in the Ramna area under the jurisdiction of the Islamabad police, who had been directed by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to arrest the main suspect following widespread public attention and outrage over the case. Police reported that four accomplices on two motorcycles fired indiscriminately at the police party, injuring the prime suspect, who later died in a hospital due to his injuries.
