On September 18, a Russian glide bomb hit an apartment building in Sumy, Ukraine, killing two people and injuring seven others. President Volodymyr Zelenskiy denounced the attack as "absolutely inhuman," noting that emergency crews had rescued four individuals from under the rubble, including a child. Three of those injured were reported to be in serious condition. The bombing targeted an area between the third and fourth floors of the building.
Sumy, located near the Russian border, has been frequently attacked by Russian forces since Moscow launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Earlier that day, another strike hit Balakliia, killing two people and injuring two more. Zelenskiy also reported that Russian forces had struck a clinic in Pavlohrad and a logistics center near Kyiv but did not provide casualty information for those incidents.
The attacks underscore the ongoing violence and destruction caused by Russia's invasion, affecting both residential areas and critical infrastructure across Ukraine.
