AI executives to appear before parliamentary inquiry
Executives from Microsoft, OpenAI, Anthropic and Google will today appear at a parliamentary inquiry examining the risks and upsides of artificial intelligence.
Labor MP Jo Briskey, who chairs the joint select committee into AI, says it will give parliamentarians an opportunity to question OpenAI executives about a hack on a Services Australia portal in June.
The federal government became aware of the breach when the artificial intelligence company informed Australian in September.
OpenAI made a public apology to the Australian government for the hack.
Speaking to ABC News Breakfast, Briskey says the committee will be interested to know what steps the company has taken to prevent a similar hack from reoccurring.
"I think it's important that everyone appearing before the inquiry across our public hearings come prepared to answer questions that committee members have of them," Briskey says.
