The Toronto Star is collaborating with the University of Toronto's School of Cities to propose solutions for municipal issues during this month’s mayoral election. Assistant Professor of Sociology Julius Haag from the university argues that city hall should allocate dedicated, long-term funding to community programs targeting young people as these initiatives are more effective in preventing violence compared to increasing police budgets. The article suggests that faculty members at the School of Cities have tackled some of Toronto's most challenging problems and that their solutions are being presented to the two leading mayoral candidates.
